I would have liked to mention that the new School is underway but somehow, the local authority, land owners and the legal teams cannot get their act together. I hope to see new jobs being created and our local community benefitting from the opportunities of new employment.

I hope someone out there in Highways planning and our local council is taking note and making plans now, and not leaving it until Whitfield comes to a constant stand still.Ī growing village does have some benefits however and looking towards the commercial sites there are new businesses moving into the area and of course a new Sports Centre which will be open in the New Year. I mention this as a warning and a precursor to the extra homes being built and therefore the extra traffic that this will bring. I have counted at least 6 occasions in recent months when this has caused significant traffic build up. There seems also to be a lot of Lorries going through Whitfield and many of them breaking down or being involved in accidents. On my relatively short journey to work each morning I seem to be spending increasingly more time stationary.

Due largely to five roads converging onto the Whitfield roundabout and the increased local traffic it is without doubt becoming busier each day. I start with the roads which affect the large majority of us. Now that you have stopped laughing, I must bring you up to date on our village life. ‘How will Christmas dinner be different after Brexit? … No Brussels!!! So to break the monotony and brighten your day here is my favourite Brexit joke. The December issue of the Whitfield News, which of course means 2018 is nearly history and Christmas and a New Year will soon be upon us!Īs I write this message Brexit is dominating the news at every turn, when I say dominating I wonder if anything else is happening.
